Steps to Apply for On-Campus Housing

All admitted first-time freshmen from outside SDSU's local admission area are required to live on campus.

First year and second year students who live in SDSU campus housing are proven to academically out-perform their peers who live off campus. Research shows that the average GPA is 11 percent higher for residential students and 13 percent higher for students living in learning communities.

Sophomore Success Program

Because of this proven success, the SDSU Sophomore Success Program was created, which enables program participants to receive customized career development support, flexible guest, meal and roommate policies, and enhanced safety and security. This two-phase program will begin by welcoming the 2017 freshman class from specific communities if they graduate from a high school outside SDSU's local admission area to live on campus their first two years. These communities include:

  • Athletes
  • Guardian Scholars
  • International students
  • Nursing
  • Out-of-state residents
  • Weber Honors College
