Incoming fall residents are strongly encouraged to arrive on Move-in day, Friday, August 25, 2017. The residence hall opening dates are published well in advance to enable residents and families to plan their travel accordingly.
Residents who would like to arrive to campus prior to Move-in day must complete an Early Arrival License Agreement on their housing portal. Please be sure to read all of the following information before submitting the request, as there are important provisions and scheduling information. Prior arrangement for early arrival will ensure a smooth check-in to each student's assigned hall. You must complete an Early Arrival Application by August 4, 2017. Please note that you will be charged starting the day that keys are in your possession regardless if you occupy the room or not.
Residents must meet one or more of these requirements in order to be eligible to apply for Early Arrival:
- Attending the International Student Orientation Program
- Attending University-sponsored leadership activities
- Participating in athletic training
- Volunteering in the Aztec Move-in Crew (incoming freshmen are not eligible, earliest move in is Wednesday, August 23)
- Be assigned into a residence hall or apartment that remains open during the breaks
Earliest Move-in Date: Sunday, August 20, 2017
Early Arrival Charge: $45/per night. The Early Arrival Charge will be billed to the student's account and will show on the Student Account Statement during the Fall semester.
Meal plans are not activated until Friday, August 25, 2017. Residents who choose to arrive early will not be able to use a meal plan at any of the on-campus locations. Plan accordingly to have extra funds available for this period.
All requests are subject to assigned space availability. If the academic year space is not ready by the requested move-in date due to construction, or maintenance and housekeeping concerns, we may not be able to approve the request.
The Office of Housing Administration reserves the right to deny an early arrival due to administrative necessity. Approval for an Early Arrival Request is granted in writing. Verbal commitments are not valid. If an Early Arrival Request is approved, the resident will receive an email confirmation to the email address provided in the SDSU WebPortal account. Residents arriving early are retaining and presenting the written early arrival authorization upon arrival.
