Incoming fall residents are strongly encouraged to arrive on move-in day, Friday, August 24, 2018. The residence hall and apartment opening dates are published well in advance to enable residents and families to plan their travel accordingly.
Residents who would like to arrive to campus prior to move-in day must complete an Early Arrival Application on their housing portal for consideration. Please be sure to read all of the following information before submitting the request, as there are important provisions and scheduling information. The Early Arrival Application will open on the Housing Portal on Friday, July 13, 2018 and will be available to residents who are assigned to the following housing facilities: Granada, Huaxtepec, South Campus Plaza North, Piedra del Sol, Tacuba, Tarastec, Tepeyac, Toltec, University Towers, Villa Alvarado, Zapotec, Zura. Prior arrangement for early arrival will ensure a smooth check-in to each student's assigned hall. You must complete an Early Arrival Application by Monday, August 6, 2018. Please note, if approved you will be charged the nightly rate to your Student Account regardless of occupancy.
Residents must meet one or more of these requirements in order to be eligible to apply for Early Arrival:
- Attending the International Student Orientation Program
- Participating in athletic training
- Be assigned into a residence hall or apartment that remains open during the breaks
Earliest Move-in Date: Sunday, August 19, 2018
Early Arrival Charge: $50/per night. The Early Arrival Charge will be billed to the student's account upon approval, and will show on the Student Account Statement during the fall semester.
Meal plans are not activated until Thursday, August 23, 2018. Residents who choose to arrive early will not be able to use a meal plan prior to August 23, 2018. Plan accordingly to have extra funds available for this period.
All requests are subject to assigned space availability. If the academic year space is not ready by the requested move-in date due to construction, or maintenance and housekeeping concerns, we may not be able to approve the request.
The Office of Housing Administration reserves the right to deny an early arrival due to administrative necessity. Approval for an Early Arrival Application is granted in writing. Verbal commitments are not valid. If an Early Arrival Application is approved, the resident will receive an email confirmation to the email address provided in the SDSU WebPortal account. Residents present the written early arrival authorization upon check-in.
