Lifestyle Options

Lifestyle living communities provide students with the opportunity to live with others who will support specific lifestyle choices. Limited space is available in these areas.

Extended Quiet Study Areas

Available in Tenochca, University Towers and Zura, these areas feature extended quiet study hours as determined by the residents. All residents and their guests are required to adhere to these policies.

Gender-Neutral Housing

In keeping with this mission and California Law, which includes “gender identity” in the fair housing non-discrimination statement, a student driven program for Gender-Neutral Housing will occur in the residence halls during the academic year and onward. Residents must self-select the Gender-Neutral Housing option. Gender-Neutral Housing will never be forced upon a student. Residents must be an undergraduate, graduate or exchange student, at least 18 years of age, and eligible for University housing. A limited number of spaces will be available to returning students who seek a more independent style of living.

Housing Over the Breaks

Some residents may require on-campus housing over Thanksgiving, winter, and spring breaks. Please select Housing Over the Breaks check box under the living choices of the License Agreement process.  Student who select housing over the breaks will be allowed to remain at their residence during break periods at no additional charge. Keep in mind that there is no meal plan available during break periods.

Substance-Free Lifestyle

These areas promote a healthy living environment. Substance Free Lifestyle community members desire to live a well-balanced and fun way of life and are looking to share these values with other like-minded individuals.  Students in this community pledge to live their lives free of alcohol, tobacco, and other mind-altering substances both on and off campus. Residents will sign an agreement stating their commitment to the substance-free lifestyle upon arrival to SDSU. (All residence halls are non-smoking in accordance with California state laws.) Guests of residents in these areas are expected to adhere to this lifestyle. SDSU residence halls comply with all state and federal regulations relating to the use of alcohol and other drugs.
