STEPS TO APPLY FOR
ON-CAMPUS HOUSING
STEP 1:
Students can apply for on-campus
housing once they have applied for admission and received a SDSU RedID number. To
begin the process log into the SDSU WebPortal and indicate interest in
on-campus housing (select the semester in the dropdown menu -- e.g., Fall 2012)
in the Admission Status section of the account.
For first-time freshmen required to live on campus, Fall 2012 will
automatically be selected. The 2012-13
License Agreement will be available the first week in March 2012 to admitted
students.
First-time
Freshmen: Out
of Service Area - All first-time freshmen who graduated from a high school
outside the SDSU service area are required to live on campus for their first
year. In addition, all first-time
freshmen participants in the University Honors Program will be required to live
on campus. If required to live in on-campus
housing, the student must submit a license agreement and $800 initial payment
by the Tuesday, May 1, 2012 Intent to Enroll deadline or admission may be
rescinded. A completed License Agreement
includes all required documents and the initial $800 payment. Completed License Agreements must be received
and processed no later than 4:30 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on Tuesday, May 1,
2012 by the Office of Housing Administration.
Inaccurate or incomplete information and/or signatures will delay the
processing of License Agreement documents.
In
Service Area: First-time freshmen who graduate from a high school within the
SDSU service must submit a license agreement and $800 initial payment by
Tuesday, May 1, 2012 to be guaranteed a space on campus. A completed License Agreement includes all required
documents and the initial $800 payment.
Transfers: Transfer students are encouraged to contract
as early as possible as space is limited.
Returning
Residents: The first 200 returning
residents to submit a completed License Agreement will be offered a space on
campus. A completed License Agreement
includes all required documents and the initial $800 payment.
If ANY License Agreement documents or
payment are received after the date specified above, student will lose housing
assignment priority and guarantee date.
The new housing assignment priority date will be the date completed
License Agreement and/or payment is received.

The Offices of Housing Administration and Residential Education recommend
first-time freshmen live in a residential learning community.

STEP 4:
Complete Living Choices. During the online License Agreement process,
students are required to complete Living Choices in the WebPortal. The information provided will be used in
assigning a room, roommate, meal plan, and residential learning community. Changes may be made online to Living Choices
only until Monday, May 21, 2012 for the academic year, and Friday, and December
14, 2012 for spring semester. Student
housing preferences will be considered, but students will be assigned to a
space depending on availability on a first-come, first-serve basis.
STEP 5:
Complete the Student Housing License
Agreement Form. Complete all Licensee
(the student) information. Complete all
Guarantor of Payment (parent/guardian or other) information (a Guarantor of
Payment is required for all Licensee’s).

security number – it is required.
**International students who need
assistance filling out the License Agreement, (the section Person Guaranteeing
Payment for Licensee) regarding the social security number should contact the
Office of Housing Administration at oha@mail.sdsu.edu or telephone at
619-594-5742. Please be sure to include in the email/telephone call that you
are an international student.
Step 6:
Complete the following forms (if
applicable):
• Information About Meningococcal
Disease and Immunization form. This form is required for all first-time freshmen.
(This data will be transmitted electronically to Office of Housing Administration).
• Global Pathways Supplemental
Application is required for those interested in residing in the International
House Living Community. (This data will be transmitted electronically to Office
of Housing Administration).
• Gender-Neutral Housing Supplemental
Application and Addendum is required for those interested in residing in the
Gender-Neutral Housing living communities. (The Supplemental Application data
will be transmitted electronically to Office of Housing Administration.
The Supplemental Addendum will be required to mail in with the License
Agreement).
Step 7:
PRINT – SIGN – MAIL all of the
License Agreement documents (facsimile copies will not be accepted):
· Student
Housing License Agreement — San Diego State University 2012-2013
· The
initial $800 payment (If paid by mail).
· 2012-13
Residence Hall Initial Payment coupon (if applicable).
· Information
About Meningococcal Disease and Immunization form (for first-time freshmen

· Global
Pathways Supplemental Application (if applicable). (This data will be
transmitted electronically to Office of Housing Administration).
· Gender-Neutral
Housing Supplemental Application (if applicable). (This data will be
transmitted electronically to Office of Housing Administration).
· Gender-Neutral
Housing Supplemental Addendum (if applicable).
Step 8:
Print and keep a copy of the Terms
& Conditions and Policies & Regulations for future reference. Students
are expected to abide by these policies.
Step 9:
Monitor WebPortal. It is the student’s responsibility
to check the WebPortal for updates about their License Agreement documents and
expedite returning corrected or missing documents. The SDSU WebPortal, Housing Admin screen will
update daily with important messages as documents are processed, e.g.,
“Received by Office of Housing Administration,” “Guarantor’s social security
number not provided,” etc. If the WebPortal
Housing Admin account does not say “Received by Office of Housing
Administration,” within three weeks of mailing, call the Office of Housing
Administration office to confirm receipt.
Step 10:
Once the completed License Agreement
is processed, the student will be mailed a signed copy of the License Agreement
and a residence hall space confirmation. Receipt of these two items is
confirmation that a space has been reserved for the student. The specific
hall and room type assignment along with roommate information will be available
in the SDSU WebPortal: room type in late-July and specific hall and roommate in
early-August. A move-in guide will also be available to help students
prepare for move-in.
