In alignment with the mission and values around sustainability expressed by SDSU and its associated organizations, the housing enterprise including Housing Administration (OHA), Residential Education (REO), Housing Facilities Services (HFS), and student leadership of the Residence Hall Association (RHA) endeavor to provide leadership for the sustainability initiatives within the on-campus residential facilities.

The sustainability Initiative provides leadership in reviewing, recommending, implementing, and promoting our sustainability practices while addressing areas of education, operations, and physical assets.

Green Building Certifications

We incorporate sustainability principles in the placement, design, and construction or renovation of our residential buildings using the internationally recognized Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program through the U.S. Green Building Council. 

  • The Office of Housing Administration maintains a minimum standard of LEED Silver equivalency for new construction and major renovations
  • The housing enterprise has five LEED-certified professionals on staff
  • Three Residential Buildings are LEED-certified
