Live-on Requirements

Incoming Freshmen 2018-2019

Starting in the Fall of 2018, SDSU requires all first-time-freshmen from outside of the SDSU service area* to live on campus their first and second years. Additionally, all first-time-freshmen in the Weber Honors College will be required to live on campus their first year. SDSU has found that students who live on campus are proven to academically out-perform their peers. Incoming Sophomores 2018-2019

Second-year students during the 2018-2019 academic year are required to live on campus if they meet any of the following criterion:

  • Out of State
  • International
  • Non-Local* Guardian Scholars
  • Weber Honors College
  • Nursing
  • Athletes

Exemption Requests from the live-on requirement will be considered under certain circumstances. 

*The SDSU service area includes all public high schools south of State Hwy 56 in San Diego County and all high schools in Imperial County.
