Apply: Sophomores 2019-2020

*The contents of this page apply to incoming sophomores who are required to live on campus for the 2019-2020 academic year. An instruction video will also be posted soon.

Step 1

Log into SDSU WebPortal and click on “Housing Application” on the left-side menu. Select the appropriate term. Then click apply.  You will be redirected to the Housing Portal. You will login using your SDSUid credentials. Click on the “License Agreement” tab to select the application.

Click “Apply” to start your application. If you are accessing this page again, your application status will appear on screen. Please verify the information. If you have any concerns about the accuracy of your status as displayed contact the Office of Housing Administration at 619-594-5742 or [email protected].

Step 2

Use the Toolbar along the left side of the page to navigate through each of the sections of the application. Sections must be completed in order. You may quit at any time. Just save your information and logout. When you return to complete the application you will be automatically directed to the section where you left off. You may also click on any completed section to revisit that portion of your application.

Below is a list of possible sections that may be displayed in your toolbar.

Welcome: This page will confirm the period you are applying for and give you additional instruction on how to complete the process.

Personal Details:  Verify personal information such as name, birthdate, ID, address, and gender. If any information is incorrect you will need to log in to your WebPortal and make changes under the e-mail and address link.

Emergency Contact Information:  Verify your emergency contact name and emergency contact phone number. If these fields appear blank you will need to return to your WebPortal and add an emergency contact name and emergency contact number. You will need to wait 24-hours in order to proceed in your Housing Portal. In addition, complete the remaining emergency contact fields and missing person contact information in the Housing Portal page.

Meningitis Information:  This page provides important information about Meningococcal. You must indicate whether or not you have received a meningitis vaccine, and if you have, whether or not you plan to receive a booster, and if you have not, whether or not you intend to receive the vaccine.

Medical Accommodation: Provides information regarding the process to make a request for a reasonable housing accommodation. We also ask that you indicate whether or not you will be seeking a reasonable housing accommodation so that we may follow-up with your request.'

License Agreement Term: The default term length for sophomores is 9-months for the academic year. You may opt into an 11.5-month term length that extends through summer.

Hall and Room Type Interest: Different hall and room types are listed in this section, depending on your License Agreement Term. You must select a minimum of one room type. The options that you select does not guarantee that you will be assigned to a specific room type, but may be used to assign your space if you do not complete the assignment process.

11.5-Month License Agreement Addendum: If you selected an 11.5-month License Agreement, you will need to review this addendum and accept the additional terms.

Additional Accommodation Preferences: This page gives you the opportunity to share with our assignments team any assignment preferences you may have. For example, preference of a first floor apartment. We also ask for your consent to provide your assigned roommates your name and telephone number.

Personal and Roommate Preferences: Provide information about your personal preferences, including habits and lifestyle. This information is used to make roommates assignments.

Student Profile: This page will allow you to describe yourself to potential roommates. Also, you will be able to indicate if you would like others to see your profile when searching for a roommate.

Meal Plan: You can select the Walkabout or Power Hike meal plan, or opt for no meal plan. Meal plans are optional for sophomores.

License Agreement Submission: Click the Submit button to confirm the submission of your completed License Agreement.

Step 3

Assignment Process: You will be receiving an email on February 25, indicating your assigned date and time during which you will be able to select from available rooms on the Housing Portal, starting March 11. The assigned date and time are assigned randomly through a lottery system.

You will be able to log into the Housing Portal to access the room selection portion of the application after your assigned date and time.

Initial Selection: Depending on the term length chosen, the available building options will appear on this page. Please select your preferred building.

Room List: On this page, you are able to view the available rooms. You will also have access to filters on the left side of the page. Each room will detail the room type, which is displayed with the number next to the bed icon, the number of bedrooms in that unit, and spaces available in the unit and room. You may click on “Show Room Info” for more information on the current occupants. When ready to select your space and the spaces for your roommates, click “Add to Cart”. Please be aware that once you have added the space(s) into your cart, it will be reserved for only 10 minutes. 

Assign Beds: Use the drop down menu on this page to assign yourself and your roommates, if applicable, to the bed space(s). If you are part of a roommate group, please be aware that the bed space within the bedroom and the unit will need to be decided amongst yourself and your roommates.

Assignment Confirmation Options: This page will be viewable if a space was selected for you. You will be able to either accept or decline the space via the dropdown box. If you decide to decline your assignment, you will be redirected to the room list page to select a new space if it is after your assigned date and time. 

Confirm Assignment: Review your selected bed space(s). You may accept or decline the space. If you decline the space, you will be redirected to the assignment process to reselect your space. Your roommate(s) will need to log into the Housing Portal to confirm or decline the space selected for them.
