Current Availability

Please contact [email protected] if you would like more information regarding availability for the Spring 2024 term.

2024-25 Academic Year

The 2024-25 academic year license agreement will be available on the Housing Portal beginning March 1, 2024.

Incoming first-year students who are required to live on campus must complete the student housing license agreement and submit the initial non-refundable payment fee on the Housing Portal by May 15, 2024. Follow the "Completing the Student Housing License Agreement" steps outlined below.

Incoming first-year students who are not required to live on campus, but would like to, are encouraged to complete the Housing Interest List on the Housing Portal as early as March 1, 2024. On-campus housing for local students is not guaranteed, and will be offered upon availability on a first-come, first-served basis.

Incoming first-year students who are required to live on campus must complete Stage I of the student housing license agreement and submit the initial non-refundable payment fee on the Housing Portal by May 15, 2024.

Stage I: March 1 - May 15

  1. Accept your Offer of Admission by submitting the Intent to Enroll non-refundable payment. You will be granted access to the Housing Portal approximately one hour after submitting your Intent to Enroll payment in my.SDSU.

  2. Before logging into the Housing Portal, use your SDSUid login credentials to activate DUO multi-factored authentication. Please plan for additional time to complete this step.

  3. Log onto the Housing Portal with your SDSUid and apply for on-campus housing. Pay the non-refundable $375 initial payment fee.

  4. E-sign and submit your completed license agreement by the Intent to Enroll deadline of May 15, 2024. Please note that priority is not given based on the date of submission of the license agreement.

Stage II: May 1 - May 15

Starting May 1, 2024, please log in to the Housing Portal and complete the following by May 15, 2024. This information will be used to assign your room and, if applicable, your roommate(s) and learning community. Please note: Input is required for the first three selections, while learning community and roommate search/confirmation is optional.

1. Meal plan (Required): Meal plans are required for first-year students living on campus. Many different options are available, with varying levels of flexibility and cost, to provide maximum choice to our residents while supporting their health and well-being on campus. With the Flex 5 and Flex 7 plans, students are provided daily allowances with broad flexibility, but those balances do not roll over to the following day, and any unused balances are forfeited. With the Meals Plus plan, both the meals and declining dollars roll over each week until the end of the spring semester. Please note: Any unused balances at the end of the spring semester do not roll over to the next academic year. Visit eatatsdsu.com for more information.

2. Room type (Required): You may select your interest for single, double, triple, or quad-occupancy room types. As the most commonly preferred room type, a majority of rooms are triple-occupancy. All other room types are very limited. First-year students can submit and indicate their room type interests, but are not able to indicate specific building interests. Housing rates vary by room type and meal plan.

3. Housing over university break periods (Required): Certain buildings will close over university break periods (i.e. Thanksgiving, winter and spring breaks) whereas others will remain open for students to occupy the rooms. As the buildings which will remain open over university breaks are pre-identified and grouped for safety reasons, students should indicate in advance if they plan to stay or leave during these periods. Please note: While unlikely, specific buildings that will be open over break periods are subject to change prior to move-in, and would be communicated to all students and families this summer if there was any change.

4. Learning community (Optional): Dozens of learning communities exist for you to choose from! Love to surf and want to be housed with other surfers? Let us know! Want to be with other engineers, or others who prefer quiet study time, or others associated with a particular identity or academic track? We've got a learning community for you. Placement in a learning community is based on availability, and for that reason can not be guaranteed. By selecting one (or multiple) learning community interests, you are agreeing to be placed in that community and the classes associated with it (if applicable).

5. Search and confirm roommates (Optional): If you would like to live with a particular roommate(s), you may join a roommate group. You may also search for roommates with shared interests. Roommate groups may be two (2) or three (3) people only. As a majority of rooms are triple-occupancy, please be aware that roommate groups of two (2) may be assigned a third roommate. If you are interested in having a roommate group of four (4) in a quad room, please email [email protected]. In the email, please copy all roommates and provide their full names and RedID numbers.

All roommates must mutually confirm room placement with each other. To accommodate roommate requests, each student in the roommate group must have the same room type and learning community interests. If you do not wish to form a roommate group, Housing Staff will assign your roommate(s) based on your answers to the lifestyle questions indicated on the Housing Portal.

Housing assignments will be released in early July on the Housing Portal and via your sdsu email. There will be an opportunity for pre-occupancy room switch requests after assignments are released.

Students who are not required to live on campus or students who have withdrawn from the university may cancel their housing license agreement before the cancellation deadline of July 22, 2024 for the applicable contract period (30-days prior to move-in). For more information, please visit the License Agreement page.
