Safety & Security

Resident safety is our top priority. Below are some safety and security measures we have in place to protect our residents. Additional information can be found in the Safety & Security section of the Guide to Community Living

checkmark Residents must present their SDSUcard and/or building identification every time they enter their residential community or if asked by a university official.
checkmark Desk Assistants/Security Monitors staff the community front desks to monitor the security of the building and enforce expectations related to safety procedures.
checkmark Guest policies strictly enforced in freshman communities (see Guide to Community Living).
checkmark All rooms, suites and apartments are subject to regular safety and maintenance inspections. 
checkmark Fire alarm systems in the residential communities are reliable and use state-of-the-art technology. The campus fire alarm network is monitored by University Police.
checkmark Security cameras monitor indoor and outdoor communal areas.
checkmark All first-floor rooms have university-provided window/door security screens for the security of residents. 


SDSU Police Department

The SDSU Police Department works hard to ensure that residents are aware of safety issues that may affect them. In the event of an emergency, updates will be posted on the Urgent Campus Information page.

SDSU Text Alerts

SDSU has established a text notification system that is capable of sending text (also known as SMS) and email messages in the event of a campus-wide emergency or health and safety concern. Register through the Web Portal.

Fire Safety Report
