Move-Out Summer 2023

*The information below is for students with a 11.5-month license agreement. 

Thank you for living on campus and making San Diego State University your home! We hope that your experience living with us has provided you with a sense of community, potential lifelong friends, and opportunities to engage in social and academic activities and programs. We appreciate your contribution to making our campus a vibrant and inclusive place to live and learn!

In preparation for housing move-out, please complete the Move-out Form by Friday, July 28 in acknowledgment of our general move-out policies and procedures.

Note that residents who do not follow check-out procedures will be assessed improper check-out fees and may also incur cleaning and/or damage charges.

Check-out Inspection

 
Aztec Corner Residents:

Aztec Corner will close at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 4. 

If you would like a walkthrough inspection with your CA, please contact them by Wednesday, July 26 to arrange an appointment time. Your CA will inspect your space, collect your keys and parking remote and check you out of your assigned space.

If you choose to check-out at the front desk, you will complete an express check-out form and place your keys in the envelope provided. After hours, you will check out at the Huaxyacac front desk.

A full-apartment inspection will be completed by your RHC after the building closes, to assess any fees for excessive trash, cleaning and damages.

Mixquic Residents:

Mixquic will close at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 4When you are ready to check out, return your keys to the Huaxyacac front desk.  

If you would like a walkthrough inspection with your RHC, please contact Jackie at  [email protected] by Wednesday, July 26 to arrange an appointment time. 

A full-apartment inspection will be completed by your RHC after the building closes, to assess any fees for excessive trash, cleaning and damages.

M@COLLEGE residents:

M@College will close at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 4. When you move out, please drop off your keys at the office on or before move-out day in order to avoid charges. 

All residential areas must be inspected, cleaned and prepared for the 2023-2024 year. Extension requests will not be considered, and failure to move out by 10 a.m. on August 4th will result in an improper check-out fee and/or daily rental fees.

You are required to pack up/remove all of your belongings and clean your apartment before you checkout. Make sure to lock your doors behind you on your way out. To check out, you will need to completely vacate and give your keys back to the front office. Any lost or unreturned keys will result in a charge. The maintenance team will conduct final inspections to assess for cleanliness and damages after you leave.

Cleaning

For a successful checkout, you will need to clean your entire space including your bedroom and communal areas before your appointment. We recommend that you come to an agreement with your roommates about how you will each clean your shared spaces including the bathrooms, kitchen and living area.

Before you checkout, make sure that you complete the following:

  • Remove all personal belongings. Double check that your drawers and closet is empty.
  • Restore your room to its initial condition at check-in, including furniture set-up.
  • Take all trash and recycling to the dumpsters. Please put trash inside the dumpsters and do not leave any trash near or around the dumpsters.
  • Wipe down all surfaces, including furniture and walls.
  • Vacuum and sweep the floor, including under the bed.
  • Leave your drawers and closet doors open in preparation for your RA/CA inspection.
  • Enter a Service Request on the Housing Portal (or online resident portal for M@College residents) for any outstanding maintenance or repair needs in your unit. Please note that Service Requests cannot be submitted for cleaning your unit.

DO NOT:

  • Do not remove nails, screws, or command strips from walls. These will be professionally removed to prevent further damage.  

Cleaning supplies will be available to checkout.

unwanted items

Please do not leave any unwanted items behind in your space. Abandoned items are subject to abandonment fees of $100 or more. 

Take unwanted items to the dumpsters or donate any usable items in the donation bin located outside of the back gate to your community. Please note: Unwanted mattress toppers cannot be donated and must be taken to the dumpsters.

A limited number of moving bins will be available for checkout at your community front desk beginning Monday, July 31.

Mixquic Residents:

A limited number of moving bins will be available inside the Mixquic gate beginning Monday, July 31

If you need to ship or store your personal belongings, please make arrangements with our campus partner collegeboxes.com. Create an account and enter promo code SDSU2023 for 10% savings. 

Cardboard boxes, tape, and other packing supplies can be purchased from The UPS Stores on campus.

Portable storage containers (PODS, U-Box, etc.) are not allowed and may be towed if placed on university property.

All parking regulations are strictly enforced. Do not park in any fire lanes during move-out or at any time. 

Aztec Corner Residents:

If you received a garage remote for parking, please return it with your keys. Students who do not return their garage remotes will be charged a $75 replacement fee.

Don’t forget your bike! Abandoned property will be removed and may be discarded.

Update your mailing address in my.SDSU to your permanent address. Any mail or packages delivered to The UPS Store after checkout will be returned to the sender. If you are expecting a package, please contact the sender to update your permanent address.

M@College Residents:

Please provide your permanent address on the Resident Portal. To do this, log into your resident portal, go to Settings -> Personal Information and edit your Alternate Mailing Address. Mail will not be forwarded by the M@College Office. Any mail or packages not claimed will be returned to the sender.
