Offers Housing Over the Break 

Residents of the communities listed below are permitted to occupy their room during university break periods. These communities are applicable for the 2023-24 academic year only and are subject to change. For safety and security, residents will be asked to register for housing over the break prior to each university break period to be granted access to their room.

Does Not Offer Housing Over the Break 

Residents in the communities listed below are NOT permitted to occupy their room during university break periods. Residents in these communities must vacate their room during the university break periods according to the terms outlined in the license agreement. During these periods, residents must unplug all electrical items, except permitted refrigerators or mini-fridge.

  • Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 22, 2023 - Nov. 26, 2023. These communities will close Nov. 22 at 4 p.m. and reopen Nov. 26 at 12 p.m. 
  • Semester Break: Dec. 19, 2023 - Jan. 15, 2024. These communities will close Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. and reopen Jan. 15 at 2 p.m. 
  • Spring Break: March 29, 2024 - April 7, 2024. These communities will close March 29 at 4 p.m. and reopen April 7 at 12 p.m.

No, there are no additional costs associated with housing over the break. 

Yes, all residents will be required to complete a Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring break form that will be emailed to your @sdsu account prior to each break period. On the form, you must indicate your departure and return dates (if applicable) and acknowledge the policies and procedures.

No, whether or not your building offers housing over the break, you may leave your personal belongings in your room, suite or apartment. We recommend that you take your ID, passport, medications and any valuable items.
